The project aims to a student-centred study programme. It has been linked to the identification of required job performance skills, the assessment of prospective trainees’ skills and the development of objectives.

Common Guidelines and Board

Study Programmes

From a very general point of view, the main objectives of the programme are: 

The advisory bodies, “Boards”, will meet periodically to identify common procedures and practices among the three partner Universities; each Board will have the task of discussing a specific topic. The three partner institutions are invited to collaborate to guarantee a coherent educational path in all its aspects with the aim of simplifying and homogenising the procedures for students who will obtain the multiple degree. The purpose of this organisation is to improve the quality of educational programmes and services offered to students and to promote the multiple degree and related EMJM Erasmus programme internationally.
The task of each Board is to establish common actions that make the educational offer, the evaluation and selection criteria, and parameters and services offered by each university homogeneous and coherent. The establishment of the Boards will therefore allow Universities to constantly exchange opinions and to monitor all the implemente operations. The Boards responsible for monitoring and implementing specific issues will be: Admission Board, Student Board, Educational Board, Stakeholder Board.

The study programme will thus be articulated according to the university in which the student is enrolled; students, according to the specific study programme attended, will be awarded:

Option A is available if the student is enrolled at UNIPA or UNIDU; option B is available if the student is enrolled at UMA.

A

Three diplomas (multiple degree): one master’s degree in “Tourism Systems and Hospitality Management” by UNIPA; one in “Tourism” by UNIDU; one in “Dirección y Planificación del Turismo” by UMA (in the case of study programmes A and B);

B

Two diplomas (double degree): one master’s degree in “Dirección y Planificación del Turismo” by UMA and one in “Tourism Systems and Hospitality Management” by UNIPA or, alternatively, one master’s degree in “Dirección y Planificación del Turismo” by UMA and one in “Tourism” by UNIDU (in the case of study programme C or D).

Students’ Services

The partner university, through the administrative office responsible for this agreement, pledges to provide assistance in the search for suitable accommodations. Likewise, the partner institution pledges to provide students with information relating to the host country, visas, required medical insurance, etc., before their arrival. The partner institution must provide students in the multiple/double degree programme with the same services that it generally provides its own students.

Each institution’s academic calendar will be considered when organising the stays. The academic office responsible for this agreement must inform the incoming students about the organisation of the courses they must take during their stay at the partner institution. All students admitted to the multiple/double degree programme must register and present the transcript of records of the courses already taken at their home university, as well as the learning agreement with the courses they will take during their stay at the host institution.   At the end of the stay, students must submit to their institution the official student transcript of records issued by the partner institution in order to receive credits for the courses taken. The certificate must be presented in English.

Ethics

Following the Equity and Inclusion standards of the Erasmus Programme, the consortium will guarantee the maintaining of ethical standards and will assume the responsibility to treat staff members and students in a fundamentally fair and equitable manner. More specifically, the consortium aims at promoting equity and inclusion by facilitating the access to participants with disadvantaged backgrounds and fewer opportunities compared to their peers whenever disadvantage limits or prevents participation in transnational activities for reasons such as: 

Disability (i.e. participants with special needs): people with mental (intellectual, cognitive, learning), physical, sensory or other disabilities

Immigrants, refugees or descendants from immigrants/refugee families; people belonging to a national or ethnic minority; people with linguistic adaptation and cultural inclusion difficulties

People with chronic health problems or severe illnesses or psychiatric conditions 

People facing discrimination because of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, etc.; people with limited social skills or anti-social or risky behaviours; people in a precarious situation; (ex-)offenders, (ex-)drug or alcohol abusers; young and/or single parents; orphans

People from remote or rural areas; people living in small islands or in peripheral regions; people from urban problem zones; people from less serviced areas (limited public transportation, poor facilities)

GENERAL BALANCE

General balance will be guaranteed both for staff and students taking part in the programme, and, more specifically, balance will be guaranteed in the selection process of students by avoiding gender/ethnicity/disability gaps. Indeed, the staff of the master’s degree programmes at the consortium partners, already satisfy a gender balance, with a male/female ratio measuring approximately 50:50.

Specific measures for these specific categories will be defined by joint meetings between the selection committee and the programme board. In particular, a percentage of reserved positions will be offered to the underrepresented categories and specific scholarships will be provided.

Finally, to ensure a better fulfilment of this goal, the universities of Palermo, Malaga, and Dubrovnik offer assistance by means of their respective offices:

  • Experts in the planning and marketing of local tourism products and sustainable tourism
